It’s been a few months since Kirsty joined the Ebor Sulis team and I thought it was about time I gave you the chance to know a little more about her so here’s a little Q&A on some of her favourite things.
Holistic Therapist – Massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy
What’s your background?
I got my level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies at the White Rose College of Health and Beauty Leeds, before working with clients at the Phoenix Health and Wellbeing Centre and continuing professional development with courses in further therapies like Reiki.
What do you do mostly and why?
I do a lot of deep tissue massages, because many people like the firm pressure and release of tension, particularly in their shoulder and neck areas!
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
I love to go walking out in nature as it grounds me and being balanced helps me treat others more effectively. So, if the sun is shining and it’s a nice day for a walk then up I’m up!
What’s really important to you?
Doing something that gives me a sense of meaning and purpose is very important to me which is why I love my job because I would like to think people leave feeling better than when they arrived!
Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6?
I love listening to Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 on a morning, so I can have a chuckle, and I like that I can hear new music that is coming out.
Gym or Swim?
It depends what mood I am in. Gym if I’m feeling motivated, and swim if I want to clear my head and get away from phones and TV etc for a while.
What’s been a career highlight to date?
I had one Reflexology client that found her first treatment so peaceful, she booked in every week. From that we have built a really good client/therapist relationship and she finds the treatments help her with stress levels at work.
Go cautiously or dive straight in?
I am a dive straight in kind of person, if I am passionate about something then I always want to share it with others. Especially when it comes to healing techniques that I rate highly! I enjoy learning new things, and throwing myself in at the deep end.
What does luxury mean to you?
Luxury to me would be a spa day with the whole works, an expensive meal out, or a nice holiday!
What record makes you most happy?
I love listening to Along the Watchtower, Jimmi Hendrix. I never get tired of it, a classic!
